18 March 2016 was not any other day in the history of trade in Malawi. This is the day that the State President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, launched the Buy Malawi Strategy (BMS) at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the Capital City, Lilongwe.
“We have dedicated this day to make a sincere promise to our dearest country. This Buy Malawi Strategy is an oath of patriotism, pledged to our country,” proclaims the President.
The justification for this declaration is that as Malawian consumers do not have any other country to be proud of, except Malawi.
“This is a land of opportunities,” says the President. “And those with eyes for opportunities see and find them. With hard work, we will realise the dream Malawi.”
Mutharika believes BMS is like a proverbial shake-up of a nation that has been in deep slumber for the last 52 years.
